A useful board starts with the space you have, not the largest size on the shelf. Compare the outside dimensions below with your worktop, sink and cupboard before choosing.
Compare the sizes
- 12 × 8 inch compact board: for fruit, a sandwich and smaller preparation jobs.
- 18 × 12 inch everyday board: a larger surface for daily preparation. Also available with a two-tone edge.
- 20 × 14 inch prep board: more working surface when countertop and storage space allow.
- 24 × 18 inch largest prep board: check the full footprint carefully, especially at the sink and in storage.
One board or a set?
The two-board set includes 15 × 10 and 12 × 8 inch boards. The three-board set offers another coordinated option; check its product page and supplier diagram for the individual sizes. Choose a set for different prep jobs, or a single board if you already know the footprint you need.
Measure three places
- Check the clear countertop space, allowing enough room to work around the board.
- Check that you can wash it comfortably and dry it upright.
- Measure the cupboard or rack where you will store it. A stand is sold separately unless the product description specifically includes one.
Preparation and serving are different jobs
A plain prep board gives you a working surface. A serving board may include compartments, a slate plate or a tool drawer. Check the specific contents and drawer clearance instead of assuming every board includes knives or accessories.
Wash and dry boards promptly, and follow the supplier care instructions. Read our bamboo board care guide and delivery and returns information before ordering.
